Alex serves as the first point of contact for clients looking to embark on new projects such as retrofits, operational upgrades, feasibility studies, tenant improvements, or new, ground-up facilities. He works closely with Clients combining technical expertise with a consultative approach to understand their unique business objectives and develop tailored engineering and project management solutions for small-scale initiatives to those exceeding $200M.

With a focus on authenticity, clear communication, and building true partnerships, Alex ensures these projects are set up for excellence and success at the outset. Assad Abdulwahab, Ph.D., B.Eng.

Mechanical Designer

Assad is a Mechanical Engineering Designer at Enginuity who supports many projects. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and over 6 years of experience in designing and drafting of mechanical systems and facilities. His experience in consulting and industrial sectors has shaped his approach to critical problem solving for clients and delivering high quality results. What Assad values most is honesty, hard work, and having a genuine care for the people he works with.

Daniel Chitsaz, P.Eng., M.Eng.

Director of Project Development / Partner

Daniel is a seasoned professional in the consulting engineering space, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in developing project plans, execution strategies, and multidisciplinary project integration. His expertise spans project scoping and definition, client relations, and service delivery across industrial, manufacturing, and high-tech sectors.

As Director of Project Development and Partner at Enginuity, Daniel plays a pivotal role in aligning project strategies with client needs. He collaborates closely with clients during all project phases—from early scoping and feasibility studies to execution and commissioning-turning ideas into actionable plans. His methodical approach bridges engineering disciplines, ensuring practical, innovative solutions that meet and exceed client expectations. Drawing from his early career as a practicing engineer and later a project manager, Daniel brings a unique ability to connect visionary project goals with practical execution. This hands-on understanding enables him to address potential gaps and deliver seamless project outcomes.

Fero Assadi, P.Eng. (Ont., BC, AB)

Director of Projects / Partner

Fero is a seasoned Project Management and Delivery Specialist with nearly 20 years of experience managing industrial and manufacturing projects across brownfield and greenfield developments, with budgets up to $200 million CAPEX.

As Project Director, Fero connects with clients to understand their needs, ensuring smooth service delivery and project success. His consultative approach, combined with strong leadership, brings stakeholders together to drive projects from concept to commissioning. Drawing from his early career as a practicing Mechanical Engineer, Fero brings a unique blend of technical and leadership expertise for practical solutions.

Fero excels in managing multidisciplinary teams and navigating various project delivery models and custom phase gates, where he oversees all phases, such as planning, feasibility, design, tendering, and execution. His expertise spans the port terminal, manufacturing, mining, agri-food, and other industrial sectors, where he has overseen delivery of countless projects with innovative and practical solutions.

Gianni Vulcano, EIT, B.Eng.

Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer, Gianni bridges the gap between Engineering and Project Management, ensuring the various teams maintain on budget, on schedule, and meet technical requirements. He is always considering all stakeholders involved and how to deliver the best results. Gianni is a lifelong learner and has a broad range of experience in manufacturing, mineral processing, and switchgear design, making him a great fit for Enginuity, a firm that services a diverse range of industries.

The lifecycle of an engineering project can contain many twists, turns and unforeseen obstacles. Gianni strives to provide clients with confidence that these obstacles are being anticipated and are dealt with in a manner that creates minimal impact on the project’s timeline and budget.

Hamid Talasaz, M.Sc.

Structural Designer

Hamid manages design layouts of new structural components, performs structural analysis, and does calculations and analysis as a Structural Designer. With a degree in civil/structural engineering and several years of experience in the oil and gas industry with large scale projects, he uses skills to deliver structural solutions for both new and rehabilitation of aging infrastructure.

His approach is to always critically consider how to craft a design that will best benefit the client and constructability, while meeting the high-quality standards that Enginuity follows. Hamid enjoys the challenge of studying, researching, and collaborating to come up with the perfect design for each client, and the support that the Enginuity team provides to bolster his learning and growth.

Hossein Shahkaram, P.Eng. (BC, ON), M.Sc.

Sr. Structural Engineer / Manager

With over 25 years of experience, Hossein is a seasoned Structural and Civil Engineer and a true leader in his field. His expertise spans steel and concrete structures, seismic designs, foundation engineering, performance analysis, and structural integrity assurance for unconventional materials.
As Structural Engineering Manager at Enginuity, Hossein brings a transformative approach to civil and structural projects. His work integrates seamlessly with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams, delivering comprehensive, interdisciplinary solutions across diverse sectors, including ports and terminals, manufacturing, power generation, mining, and oil and gas.

Hossein excels in condition assessments, creating mitigation plans for aging infrastructure, and developing code-compliant designs using advanced structural modeling techniques. His innovative mindset and dedication to safety and reliability have made him an integral part of the Enginuity team for more than half a decade.

Mehdi Hamidi, P.Eng., M.Sc.

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Advisor

Mr. Mehdi Hamidi, P.Eng., is a Mechanical Engineer who has worked more than 29 years in the industry. Mehdi has vast experience in building HVAC, plumbing, clean space design, building energy modelling, industrial ventilation, energy use, and thermofluids. He also has significant experience and expertise in pipelines, oil desalination plants, flare lines, offsite and interconnection. He currently supports Enginuity with various mechanical consulting activities.

Nima Atabaki, P.Eng., Ph.D.

Sr. Mechanical / Energy Engineer

Dr. Atabaki is a Senior Mechanical Engineer with over 20 years of experience in liquid processing, energy recovery, and thermofluid systems design. He has contributed to diverse industries, including refineries, mining, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, and manufacturing facilities with a focus on sustainability and innovative engineering solutions.

Nima’s international experience has equipped him with a broad perspective, enabling him to tackle complex engineering challenges. He is an expert in energy recovery, mass and energy balance, and complex 2 phase flow systems. He takes lead in concept and detail design of process, utilities, ventilation, and energy recovery systems. He is also a certified consultant with Fortis BC and BC Hydro to lead sustainability projects. Beyond his role at Enginuity, he serves as a Faculty Member at the University of British Columbia, where he teaches and conducts research. His contributions include numerous publications and sustainable energy patents. Nima is committed to delivering impactful solutions that meet client objectives and drive project success.

Ricardo Rivera, B.Eng.

Project Manager

Ricardo is a project engineering and coordination specialist with 15 years of experience managing multidisciplinary projects in the light and heavy industrial sectors. He excels in guiding projects from concept and planning through execution and start-up, ensuring seamless delivery and client satisfaction.

As a leader at Enginuity, Ricardo prioritizes value engineering during the conceptual and design phases while managing technical engineering teams and overseeing project delivery. He has expertise in capital project planning, process flow, building codes, permitting, and facility maintenance, maintaining clear communication and effective collaboration across stakeholders.
Ricardo also mentors Enginuity’s Project Engineering and Delivery teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. His dedication to project success and operational efficiency makes him an invaluable asset to the team. Ricardo’s approach to making projects successful is to have continuous communication with the team and being open and available.

Paniz Khajeh, Int. Architect AIBC, M. Arch.

Layout Designer / CAD Administrator

Paniz is an Intern architect of General Arrangement (GA) Designer and BIM Administrator with 10 years of architectural experience in various industrial and commercial projects. She is experienced in offering architectural and engineering solutions from inspection to completion. What sets her apart from other architectural designers in this field is her ability to combine her 10 years of architectural and construction experience with her business administration knowledge to establish design objectives and set milestones to reach the projects goals. Paniz is a detail-oriented designer with expertise in designing, planning, and modelling a wide range of projects using AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, and BIM 360. She brings industrial plants to life by bridging the building, equipment, processes, human, and workflow as a cohesive unit to enable various other engineering disciplines to execute their work.

Moreover, Paniz is passionate about connected technology and how it can be integrated into businesses. She helps our clients propose ways to improve a business’s efficiency from an architectural perspective, advising managers on making an organization more profitable through reduced costs and increased revenue. She organizes information about a problem, designs a procedure for improvement, recommends new systems and organizational changes, and confers with managers to ensure that changes are working.

Hamid Tavangar Marvasty, M.Sc.

Mechanical Design Specialist

Hamid is a skilled Mechanical Engineering Designer with over 15 years of experience in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemical, biogas, wastewater, and agri-food. His experience in heavy industrial encompasses engineering design, construction site and fabrication. He holds a M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering and is a certified PMP.

With expertise in piping, vessels, mechanical systems, and equipment, pipe stress and restraint design, designing and fabricating skid-mounted equipment packages, Hamid consistently delivers exceptional results. His attention to detail and innovative problem-solving skills makes him an invaluable asset in executing complex engineering projects.

Branko Stojkovic, P.Eng., M.Eng

Sr. Mechanical Engineer – Dust & Bulk Materials

Branko is a senior mechanical engineer and leader heading Enginuity’s material handling, explosion protection, and dust mitigation services. With over 35 years of on clean technologies.

Besides his excellence in leadership and interpersonal skills, Branko’s technical expertise is broad with specialization in biomass-to-energy, code compliance, process and machine safety, process controls, system start-up and commissioning in process plants.

Jamie Hu, P.Eng., PMP, M.Sc.

Project Manager – Eningeering

With over fifteen years of comprehensive experience spanning light and heavy industrial facilities, Jamie is an Engineering Project Manager specializing in a diverse array of sectors from oil and gas to bio-waste processing, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. His expertise encompasses the optimization and enhancement of processing facilities, expansion and upgrading within the energy sector, as well as spearheading R&D initiatives for new designs and skid optimization projects. Additionally, Jamie has contributed to municipal projects and port terminal facilities acting as an owner’s representative. He brings a unique passion to projects and dedication to customer service that bring a sense of ‘je ne sais quoi’ above technical skills

Patrick Devaney, B.Eng.

Project Engineer

Project Design Engineer with 4+ years’ experience working in capital and operational upgrades in projects plant. He coordinates various disciplines and leads projects in the pharmaceutical, bioprocessing, energy generation and wastewater treatment sectors. His background in First-Class Honors bachelor’s degree in mechanical and manufacturing engineering from Dublin University that gives him a keen eye in working on manufacturing and process plants.

Kelly Chen, BSChE, E.I.T.

Project Engineer

Kelly is a Junior Project Engineer on the Project Delivery Team at Enginuity, leveraging her background in Chemical Engineering to bring innovative solutions to her work. With project and operations engineering experience in British Columbia and Alberta, she has contributed to the chemicals and renewables industries, where her expertise drives impactful results.

Kelly leads and supports a diverse range of projects, including sustainability initiatives, feasibility studies, building demolition, and structural and mechanical inspections. Her versatility and commitment to delivering practical, sustainable solutions make her an integral part of the Enginuity team.

Guhan Chendurnathan, M.Eng., EIT

Project Engineer

Guhan is a Project Engineer with over 8 years of experience in project coordination, management, design, and construction across diverse engineering projects. His expertise spans operations engineering in manufacturing and delivering successful multi-disciplinary projects in dynamic and challenging environments.

In the fast-paced consulting field, Guhan has collaborated with municipal and industrial clients throughout British Columbia, guiding projects through every phase—from prefeasibility to commissioning. His ability to adapt to evolving requirements ensures project success, even in complex scenarios.
Dedicated to fostering a positive environment for both internal teams and external stakeholders, Guhan excels as a strategic project leader. He maintains clear communication with professionals across various disciplines, ensuring seamless coordination and alignment with project objectives.

Ryan Knill, P.Eng., B.ApSc.

Sr. Project Development – Heavy Industrial Div.

Ryan is a Senior Project Development professional, bringing over 15 years of experience in project management and multidisciplinary engineering. He specializes in delivering innovative solutions for industrial clients, emphasizing proactive early engagement to ensure efficient execution and long-term operational success across greenfield, brownfield, and maintenance projects.

Ryan’s approach is rooted in understanding client goals and challenges, ensuring every project is built on a foundation of collaboration, constructability, and trust. His expertise in engineering and construction allows him to align big-picture thinking with precise execution, making him a dependable partner for complex initiatives.

Maryam Ghareh Abadi, MBA, M.Sc.,

Project Controls Officer

Maryam is a Project Controls officer at Enginuity that ensures smooth control and workflow within projects at Enginuity to ensure timely delivery of projects within budget. With a master’s degree in engineering and business administration and over 10 years of Project Controls experience in EPCM and EP projects, Maryam excels at her role help her excel in her role as she collaborates closely with Project Engineers, Administration, and Management to monitor and forecast project costs and budgets. Her attention to detail and analytical mindset contributes to the successful execution of projects at Enginuity.

Majid Tehrani, B.Eng.

Structural Designer

Majid is a Civil and Structural Engineering Designer with over 14 years of experience in conceptual and detail design, and project management of multi-disciplinary construction projects.

As a Structural Designer, Majid manages design layouts of new structural components, performs structural analysis and calculations, and prepares technical reports.

He has been part of the project team in capital grain storage and processing plant and three mega projects of combined cycle power plants and part of small operational projects across array of sectors. His PMP allows him to also play a coordinating role within his civil structural design projects by working with third party companies.

Samantha Purewal, BBA

Office Manager

Samantha is Enginuity’s Office Manager. She has been with the company for 5 years and as a senior-core team member, she is dedicated to supporting and promoting growth across various departments. Partnering with upper management and support staff, Samantha leads and owns key functions to ensure a positive employee experience and acts as a company ambassador for staff, contractors, partners, and clients. Her goal is to preserve the culture, business objectives, mission, vision, and values through organizational growth and development. Additionally, Samantha ensures the financial health of the company by managing profit and loss. She strives to leave a positive impression on every situation and individual.

Vaspan Gutta, P.Eng., PMP, CER

Project Engineer

Vaspan is a Project and Manufacturing engineer with over 12 years of work experience working in the engineering consulting industry working on EPC projects primarily in the agri-food and packaged foods industry, focusing on CAPEX projects ranging from continuous improvement to plant expansions. He has overseen Projects ranging from $500k to $60 million in spend. With a Manufacturing degree background from McMaster University, his contribution in projects is above and beyond project management, where he offers process manufacturing expertise to consult clients and guide discipline design engineers.

Azadeh Raifee Tabatabaee, M.Eng.

Electrical Design Specialist

Azadeh is an Electrical Engineering Design specialist at Enginuity. She focuses on carrying out engineering and design work pertaining to EIC projects ranging from power distribution design, controls, and site and construction services. She offers our team and clients 15+ years of experience in engineering and project services within various sectors such as industrial, municipal, utilities, and hospitals. Her experience extends to multi-disciplinary consulting and EPCM firms.

Afshin Zanganeh, P.Eng., M.A.Sc.

Adviser / Mechanical Engineer

Afshin is a senior Mechanical Engineering and has more than 25 years of experience in light and heavy industries. He specializes in piping and tanks, but also industrial ventilation systems. He’s experience has entailed mechanical systems and equipment in heavy industrial plants, from design through to manufacturing, construction, and commissioning. Afshin has international experience, having worked on projects in North and South America, China, and the Middle East in both engineering and construction.

Overall, Afshin’s goal is to deliver excellent engineering leadership and value added solutions through interactive team work, keeping safety at the forefront, and taking a sustainable design approach. He greatly enjoys mentoring and leading the team of Mechanical Designers at Enginuity, contributing to the elevation of the team’s skills and capabilities.

John Bekkers, AScT

Advisor / Business Development

John focuses on finding new opportunities that would be a great fit for Enginuity and communicating with clients to understand their unique project needs and offer potential solutions. He likes getting to know people on a deeper level and making genuine connections that turn into long-term relationships. John’s greatest personal value is honesty — he would rather tell the truth and bear the pain, than tell an untruth and damage a meaningful relationship. His ultimate goal is to provide clients with resolutions that they are truly happy with.
