Mining & Minerals

Mining projects span long timeframes, from exploration and early planning through funding, execution, ramp-up, and sustaining capital. Enginuity supports mining owners, operators, EPCs, vendors and contractors with practical, buildable engineering across both greenfield and brownfield scopes, with experience in remote and arctic conditions and logistically challenging sites. Our presence has ranged from the Arctic circle, through central America and down to South Africa.

Our decades-long experience has provided us with expertise with extreme remote, logistically challenging, and arctic conditions. Our experiences extend to the following type of operations:

  • Gold Mining & Processing
  • Copper Mining & Processing
  • Quarries (Aggregates, minerals)
  • Coal Mining and Processing
  • Oil Sands
  • Uranium Mining & Processing

Capital Expansions & Greenfields

We support new and expanding operations from early-stage conceptual engineering through detailed design, procurement support, and construction/commissioning assistance, within clear battery limits aligned to your assets and execution plan. Our deliverables typically align to FEL 1-3 maturity and beyond, that integrate directly into PEA, PFS, and FS workstreams led by our clients’ Qualified Persons preparing an NI 43‑101 study, and subsequent project phases through to detail design and construction, with detail knowledge of applicable codes.

  • Conceptual Engineering
  • Early state infrastructure scoping
  • Pre-PEA/PF infrastructure and costing support
  • Detail Design and Engineering
  • Permits with Mine Authorities
  • Project Management Services
  • Logistics & Procurement Support
  • Field Engineering

These services can be offered within well defined battery limits of specific assets and systems (See the Mining Systems & Assets listed below)

Material Handling & Processing (“Dry Side”)

We support dry-side operations and systems where throughput, reliability, and dust control often drive the most value. Services include design, rehabilitation, and optimization of the following assets

  • Drill & Blast operations
  • Infeed & vault systems
  • Ore Stockpile reclaim
  • Crushing Plants, screening, and classification
  • Conveyors, transfer points, bins/hoppers, feeders, and flow optimization
  • Dust Collection & Mitigation
  • Dry material storage

Processing & Recovery Systems (“Wet Side”)

Enginuity supports processing and recovery operations by supply of process engineering packages and associated balance of plant. We work from BFD to PFD/P&ID, through to detail design,  including mass & energy balances, major equipment specification and sizing, control philosophy, utility integration (power, water, air, steam/heat, fuel), General Arrangements, and Vendor RFQ packages. Our specialties include:

  • Support process flow selection & mass/energy balance
  • PFD to P&ID
  • Slurry Piping
  • Froth Flotation systems & interfaces
  • Transport Piping (Process, Power, & Utility)
  • Vendor Package Support
  • Utilities integration
  • Balance of Plant for process (Process Building, HVAC, Utilities, etc.)

Metallurgical test work interpretation, flowsheet selection, and recovery assumptions remain under the mining client’s Qualified Person (QP). We provide the engineering deliverables that are incorporated into QP-led study workstreams as applicable.
