STEEL MAKING UPGRADES
ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
AltaSteel Ltd. (Subsidiary of Anglo American) is a producer of rolled steel products for the mining, construction, automotive and engineering industries. Based in Edmonton, Alberta the company operates steelmaking, hot rolling and heat treatment facilities.
As part of reliability and safety upgrades to the facility, Enginuity provided AltaSteel with engineering and design services to replace and upgrade parts of the plant, including a custom designed continuous billet cooling chamber (automatic water cooling of billet), new rolling mill station, and billet conveyance and transfer system. Many of the new designs replaced plant equipment from the early 1900’s.
