BALLARD: FUEL CELL PRODUCTION FACILITY UPGRADES

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

As a consequence of a major increase in production demand and consequent need for major overhaul, Ballard Power Systems found it necessary to overhaul and expand two of its major production plants. Enginuity was retained to oversee this expansion, manage the project from inception to completion through supply of consultation, engineering design, and project management.  The project involved substantial reconfiguration and expansion of existing production facilities as well as the installation of additional equipment to meet the demands. This included various ISO Clean and Isolation rooms requiring stringent temperature, humidity, and cleanliness control, Hydrogen Test rooms, Calibration rooms, & Manufacturing space. The facility was already in production and it was mandated that only minimal impact on existing schedules would be possible.  The project involved assessment of the existing facilities for the changes ranging from the purely physical suitability. Functioning as the client’s agent, Enginuity recognized the projects through a series of Tenant Improvement and Building Permits.
